This is a new design that I have been working on. Just thought I would post it too see if anyone has any comments:) This is for nothing. It is desgin for design sake.
Well, it is kinda hard to read. However, I like it a lot. I like the tension of the white area sliding over the black. Somehow, I find myself picking out all kinds of pseudo-facial forms throughout the piece. I guess the brain, presented with the inscrutable, attempts to pluck out something familiar from something like this. I always enjoy something that keeps my attention, and this certainly fits the bill!
Thanks for the comment. I love that you try to see faces. There is not any but your mind does try to fins something in the abstract. Trying to makes sense out of something that does not make sense. I am glad that it keeps your attention!!! What about it do you find hard to read? I am curious because there is not a lot of text on the design.
I love the textures and I do see some faces as well. I get the text, but the bar code not so much. There’s also a certain tribal quality I see around the edges to of the er…uhh…white/off-white area. I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but it’s a nice touch. All in all for a design with no reason I think it came out well. But was there ever any doubt? You’re really great with the grunge/distressed/texture technique.
Thanks, yeah i don’t know about the bar code either. It seems not to go, but at the same time I think it needs it or at least something there. Very interesting that you see faces as well and tribal quality. This is why I like feedback. Was there any doubt, maybe….?
Actually, there is nothing at all that needs to be read; I think what text us there could be considered strictly a design element, rather than communication, and as such succeeds perfectly. I’m afraid my opening comment about it being hard to read was a lame attempt at humour; a poke at the people that insist on something legible be in everything. I should have used an emoticon, sorry;-)
There was no attempt on my part to look for any faces, yet they rose up like unbidden thoughts in a quiet place. Each time I look I see different ones, and now it has become a sort of game. As for the bar code, I don’t know, either, but it does seem like something ought to be there, and I don’t think it matters what, as long as it is part of the design, so I think it works well enough. And hey, if the viewer doesn’t like an element…well, they can make their own design if think it is so easy!
HA. You should have used an emoticon it would have helped! I like the idea of if the viewer does not like then let them change it and try to design it. My intention was not faces, but is fascinating that you see so many!
Thanks. The rust feeling is from a picture that is in the background. There is one photo and the rest are layers that are distressed with many brushes.
i love the textures and distressed look as well, i just feel that those pieces of white that look like bent toothbrushes are distracting… my eyes just seem to always end-up there

I actually really like the darkness of it. There’s a lot of texture.. almost a rusty feel. I like it.
